Joint Graduation Invitation

July 5, 2011 - Leave a Response

Even though most ceremonies are complete–graduation parties are still coming throughout the summer. This client came to me with the need for an invitation for a dual high school graduation party. The two graduating are cousins but different high schools–which meant different school colors. Fortunately they had one mutual color between the two schools–maroon.

So, as usual, I took some information about the two of them and applied some different options. I showed the client some of my illustration style as well as their requests for photos. As always I keep my clients personal information confidential so I thought that should be similar with pictures (hence the white boxes) and they chose this format.

So they chose this direction and were happy with the results. We stuck with a 8.5 x 5.5 double sided postcard which worked out great.

In addition, as I said I tried to have a little fun with some illustrations. I took what information I got from the client (some hobbies for each graduate to make it more personal) and tried to play with some illustrations, here are some that didn’t make the cut. (rough concepts)

Bee Day

So as I say in all of my info I can do more than wedding items–here is proof 🙂

A child’s first birthday has to be a big deal for a parent, right? So why not make it special. When this client came to me with this idea–I was all over it. As you can see, it is a “Bee” themed 1st Birthday. With the baby being a girl, the colors chosen were black and yellow with touches of pink.

We tried several different drawings, with this being the favorite. Some options were more “kid-like” but since the birthday girl may not have to much to say about these (ha) we opted for a more general look and feel.
I too incorporated the play on words using “Bee” where I could which you will see here. Of course all of the personal information (besides her name) has been removed for privacy purposes, but you get the idea, right?

For the options that didn’t make the cut, feel free to email me and I would be happy to send them!

Pre-Wedding BBQ

Now, for those of you that know me, No this is not Jeff & I (haha notice the difference in spelling?)
This client of mine has a family member who is getting married in the near future however– it will take place in Colorado. Since a lot of their family members will be unable to attend, they still felt it important to have a celebration with everyone together. (love that idea!)

Now with me being crazy into details there were some minor draw backs…
Invite stipulations:
• Keeping the idea of a “shower” out of here (in lieu of scaring men away!)
• Not knowing a lot of wedding details (dress, flowers etc)
• Keeping a wedding-y but casual feel to the event

What we did know was that the colors were pink and green.

For wording, we opted for a
“Pre-Wedding BBQ”. Again going crazy with a rhyming dictionary, I provided a few options for my client but this is the one that she preferred. As far as font treatments, layouts and custom graphics I had several other options (which I would be happy to share if anyone wants to see.)

Again blank spaces are for personal info.
