More of the little details…

July 25, 2012 - Leave a Response

Between moving, getting acquainted with married life, work and wedding for other friends–holy summer is flying! Anyway I wanted to be sure to post some of the other details of our wedding.

As far as our guests, like many of you, when it comes to invitation time, you want to recommend hotels for people to stay with. Most of these hotels will give you a list of occupants so you can see which of your guests are staying where. I found this (like many others do) as an opportunity to personally welcome all of my guests. Fellow bridal party members helped to assemble these bags. They included water, Gatorade, aspirin, a snack, candy, crackers, mints and most important the “Weekend Itinerary.” You are probably thinking…WHAT?!

Most people either throw away their invitations or forget them. So I devised a little booklet which detailed where and when things were just to avoid confusion. Take a look at the page below. This was just all 4 pages put together on one.

The first page was a welcome. The second was for Thursday (the night before) welcoming guests that were in town to join us after our Rehearsal Dinner. Friday of course was the big day! This page laid out the times for both the wedding & reception, their locations as well as when/where the shuttles would come. The last page was a quick thank you and a great spot for our new address!

These were small 2×8 pieces (book mark size) Here’s how I attached them:

A great way to add more personalization to your event and best of all pass along vital information!

Our wedding invitation

June 21, 2012 - Leave a Response

I thought that maybe I would FINALLY share all of my wedding materials now that it’s all over 😦

As I said before I was incredibly indecisive when it came to my own wedding. I went through about 20 concepts before I locked into this one. I wanted something that was semi-formal yet fun, kind of unique, had a beachy feel and of course would incorporate our wedding colors.

As you will see throughout the pieces, I have a tendency to make things look very uniform or matchy matchy (it’s a sickness really). You will notice how I kept with the theme before the wedding as well as how I carried it out through the reception and such.

The first piece is the invitation:

Size: 4.5 x 6.5 which I glued down to the envelope
Fonts: used some fun and formal
This invite was for the wedding only (the main event!)

Next was the invitation to the reception. Since it had the least amount of information, it was the smallest card. However–stood out yet still was within the theme…

Size: 3×5 single sided card
Fonts: Picked up the main font from our names, then used a more simple font for the details
This invite was for the reception only.

Next, and probably the most important (for me anyway) was the RSVP. I wanted it to be simple and take the guess-work out for my guests! Note the color pick up (invite & RSVP being the most important!) Here is provided my guests with a spot for their names and check boxes for which meal they would like. On the back was the return address and a stamp–painless!

Size: 3.5 x 5.5 (met with postal regulations)

Fonts: picked up from other pieces

Next, to go along with the rest I provided guests with accommodations as well as directions. This was a double-sided 4×6 card.

Last–the full package!

Stay tuned for more wedding 🙂

Royal Blue RSVP & more

May 21, 2012 - Leave a Response

So, if you will notice anything bot my blog as well as my invitations–I am all about coordination! So of course I wanted the RSVP and any other materials to reflect and or pick up some of the same design treatments as in the invitation. (see previous Royal Blue is IN post)

Here, we stuck with a simple front. I picked up the pattern, font and flower image from the invitation/reception post card. Knowing the specifics from the usps, we went with a 4×6 card and left ample room at the bottom for where they run it through.

The back is one of the most important pieces in any formal sit-down dinner–who’s coming? How many people? What do they want to eat? Going through this process myself now I know how important these little cards are and getting them right is key! Check out the information. I made it easy with providing a line for the guest names, check marks for the food as well as the return address. Here, when the bride adds a stamp–it makes it so easy!

Here not only did we save money in printing in using both sides but also eliminated the cost of smaller envelopes and the time it would take to hand write or slap return address labels 🙂

The last piece to complete the set is the Accommodations card. Sometimes the bride and groom offer room blocks and or suggestions for where to stay for their special day. Here, the venue gave the bride specific instructions that she was to inform her guests. So we made it her own and picked up the pattern and other elements from the rest of the set.
