Save The Dates: Baltimore

February 2, 2010 - Leave a Response

At this time, I was asked by my future sister-in-law to help her with some of the details for her wedding. She knew what she wanted, and pushed me to make it happen for her. I was happy to do so! Being a bridesmaid too I was so involved with all aspects of their wedding– my mom was so jealous! haha

A photo booth idea, here is the front

The back with all of the important info

First step for most weddings today are the infamous “Save the Dates.” With the unique idea from the bride for a bookmark, we went with a photo-booth/strip look. They went and had fun in the booth which really shows their personalities. (personal=love!)

Although their signs look scribbled–on the actual photo they didn’t show up, that is where photoshop came in. I was able to keep that scribbled looks using a tablet that I have at work. We went with a black and white look on the front and purple on the back–a sneak peak of what was to come as well as important information for guests. She too ordered purple tassles to really pull the look together.

Favors: Derby Style

What the label looked like: "Sarah's Bridal Shower September 12, 2009"

Of course, my favorite part of any event, the favors! This Bridal Shower theme was Kentucky Derby. In case you don’t know Derby attire consists of large hats, costume jewelry and fancy dresses for the ladies. So in addition to the stated attire, I was determined to incorporate some element of this fashion to the favors. I was able to find an assortment of ceramic and felt hats, poked a hole through them, added fishing wire and a label=ornament!

Just to show you the type of assortment

By the way, yes the ladies did wear hats and jewels!

Invitation to: A Derby Shower

Illustrations were done in lieu of the theme

Here is where it all started.

My best and oldest friend was getting married. I was asked to be a bridesmaid (a first timer) so I of course wanted to do any/everything that I could to make this experience incredible for her.
She has grown up with horses her entire life, so in speaking with the other bridesmaids the idea of a “Kentucky Derby” theme came into play. Although there was no betting or actual racing; the decor, language, menus and attire all went around this theme, and yes most of the guests did wear hats!
